You Have Just Been Experimented On And
You Can Easily Do This On Your Own Sites Too.

Now we know which phrasing in the example link
got more people to click! (Use the winner more!)

Instructions are below!

The results just after I set this up look like this:

I'll update this image once we have some real results!

Here's how I did it:

  1. I alternated the people coming to this sales page using the brown belt split-testing feature coming up next.

  2. On one variation of the page, half the people saw a request that said, "Please Click This Link". On the second variation, the other half saw a command that said, "You Should Click This Link".

  3. They both clicked on the very same link, setup in GoTryTHIS in the video below the example link. It is "http://anexamplesite.com/green". I added campaigns to the end of the link in each variation, so I could tell which one got the most traffic.

  4. The request link had the campaign "-level.html", as in "http://anexamplesite.com/green-level.html". The command link had the campaign "-belt.html", as in "http://anexamplesite.com/green-belt.html"

  5. In the campaigns tab for that link, I see how many clicks came to each campaign, without having had to setup extra links, or even having to setup the campaigns in advance!

You can do this on links published anywhere, like in e-mails, PDFs, YouTube videos, twitter, etc. Just create one link to your destination, and then use different campagins with each place you advertise it. You then learn which advertisements are more effective!
